10 Tips To Help You Stick To Your New Year Resolution.

Most of you would have made a new year resolution and I hope you all are following your new year resolution plan and if you haven’t, you have landed to the right place of the solution to your problem. I will be sharing 10 tips which will help you stick to your new year resolution and if you are aggressively following it, this 10 tips will be highly beneficial for you to have fun while you stick to your resolution.

1. Make realistic, precise and smart goals

In the rush of excitement of the new year do not throw up a goal to yourself which is imaginary like reducing 30kgs in 30 days. It’s not possible for a person who is not physically active for the past years and wants to reduce 30 kgs in 30 days. The better way of reducing 30kgs is – on the day one you should exercise and see the time that how much time you could exercise on the first day and according to plan your progress on a daily basis. In the same way, don’t resist your favorite food for your whole life instead postpone to eat it after some time or a few days and slowly increase the intensity. The smart way of achieving your goal is to make daily task and accordingly decide your goals by improving 1% or even 0.1% on a daily basis for that matter.

2. Document your planning

Writing down your daily work and completing your smaller goals make you confident enough to withstand with the plans and higher goals which you wish to achieve. Planning for small goals and documenting it down will give you more perspective in planning in a better way and getting the resolution to achieve as soon as possible if you stick to the documentation which you planned.

3. Don’t punish yourself too hard

Punishing yourself over the occasional slip won’t help you achieve your goals. Do the best you can each day, and take one day at a time. Occasional punishment is fine but obsessing it won’t do any good to you and to the goals which you wish to achieve and which you can achieve.

4. Be patient and keep on trying

If you steam up every now and then for not able to follow up your plan to execution then you should stop punching yourself too much remember it takes time to have a meaningful change in your life. It takes a while to make a behavior to become a true habit and in the process, you will come across a lot of failures. It’s not a straight path there is a lot of hiccups in between and you should overcome those small hiccups and keep moving towards your goal. Start over again! Recommit yourself for 24 hours. You can do anything for 24 hours. The 24-hour increments will soon build on each other and, before you know it, you will be back on track.

5. Reward yourself

This is a very important aspect in moving towards your goals and your new year resolution plan at a faster rate. Rewarding yourself can be tricky sometimes. You can’t just eat an entire box of chocolates if your resolution is to eat a better diet. Instead, celebrate your success by treating yourself to something you enjoy that doesn’t contradict your resolution. If you have been sticking to your promise to eat better, for example, reward yourself with new fitness gadget, clothes or fitness book or any other fitness equipment. Remember till the time it becomes a habitual process which comes naturally, making true your new year resolution you should surround yourself with the things related to your resolution and after it becomes a habit you can jump around to other things which you enjoy. 

6. Surround yourself with positivity

Surround yourself with the people who support you and are a good critic who not only praises you for your good but also criticize you for your mistakes and put on their perspective and try resolving those issues. Watch and read people who have achieved well in the field which you want to be successful at and try to learn from their mistakes and success and get motivated.

7. Make the pros and cons list

The most important thing is to consider various aspects of a resolution with being biased towards it. Maybe the time is right, and maybe it’s not: give that idea a thought before diving in. It may help to see a list of pros and cons on paper to strengthen the motivation. Research on it as much as you can and take decisions according to your intellect and the information which you have gathered. Do not overthink or overdo it as you could waste a lot of time in research and won’t take action. Develop this list over time, and keep on adding the information as you progress. Keep the list handy and refer to it when the need to reaffirm a resolution strikes.

8. Focus on one step at a time

There will be a phase sooner or later when you will feel frustrated and you will feel that you are going no were but at that moment you need to ask yourself a question ” Do you want to change and make yourself better as you grow or you want to remain the same as you were earlier?”. You need to tell yourself that this time will never come back and as you delay your task you will have to work even harder to get to your goals. The things which can be done at half of your energy will require twice or even more if you postpone or avoid doing that one single goal of yours. Remember if you do not push yourself and work hard towards your goals, someone else is still working hard to achieve the same goal.   

9. Tell people about it

Sometimes it is better to tell about your new year resolution to people around you whom you trust and who are close to you. They will push you and pinch you whenever they find you being lazy and not living up to your new year’s resolution plan. It will give you a fire to move on to your plans strictly as you have already bragged about it and you do not want yourself to feel shameful in front of your loved ones.

10. Track it down

Tracing down everything all your ups and downs, lows and highs, all your mistakes and their solution will show the road which you have taken and how far you have reached following it. It will show you your story and how much you have grown and achieved. It will become a guide book for you to not repeat the mistakes which you did earlier and most importantly it will give you confidence that you can face any challenge in your life and win over it and be a better person and grow each day.
